MODOT to close lanes on Olive for utility work

The Missouri Department of Transportation and Missouri American Water will close two lanes on Olive Boulevard for utility work starting at 3 a.m. Thursday, June 17, weather permitting. All lanes should be reopened to traffic by 5 a.m. Friday, June 18.
This work, between Creve Coeur Mill Road and Route 141, will start on the south side of Olive Boulevard and move north. Crews will use the shoulders and the center turn lane to keep two lanes of traffic moving in each direction during work.
Utility relocation work previously scheduled by AT&T in the same area during this time has been postponed until Sunday, June 20, at 11 p.m.
Flaggers will be on hand to allow condominium residents access to Olive Boulevard. Drivers should avoid the area if possible and use alternate routes to get to their destinations.
This work is part of a $44.5 million American Recovery and Reinvestment Act project to move Route 141 further to the east between Ladue Road and Olive Boulevard, raising the roadway out of the flood plain and improving the traffic flow. It will connect with a St. Louis County project, the Page-Olive Connector, at Olive. In addition, Fred Weber will
be completing a $10 million Metropolitan Sewer District upgrade along the Route 141 project.
Missouri American Water has invested about $3.7 million in the water main relocation, as part of the Route 141 relocation.
Work on Route 141 is expected to be finished by the summer of 2012.
