Wentzville firefighters help out with 'Pink Tour'

The Wentzville Firefighters Community Outreach Association participated in the Pink Ribbon/Heals Tour event last month—raising $12,000 to donate to the families of local women battling cancer.

The Pink Tour selection committee will now decide how these funds will be divided among the applicants for assistance.

The committee, composed of firefighters and local residents, received 11 applications for assistance from the Wentzville area. The committee has sent surveys to the women to find out where they need the help most.

As a way of showing their continued support for the families battling cancer and to cancer survivors, the firefighters and staff of the Wentzville Fire District and many other departments in St. Charles County are wearing pink duty shirts throughout the month of October.
