Stimulus funding set for O’Fallon
The O'Fallon City Council has approved an agreement that will use federal stimulus funds to resurface roads and bring sidewalks in compliance with the American’s with Disabilities Act.
Last month the council unanimously approved an agreement between the city and the Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission’s for the 2009 ARRA Resurfacing Project.
More than $670,000 in federal stimulus money will be given to the city to resurface roads and prepare sidewalks to accommodate those with disabilities.
Tom Drabelle, spokesperson for the city, said officials had proposed 10 projects to the St. Charles County Road Board to be considered to receive stimulus funds.
Drabelle said initial funding in direct response to the stimulus has been approved to improve O’Fallon’s Main Street from Hwy. 70 to north of Third Street; East Pitman Street, to Sonderen Street; and Sonderen from Wabash Street, north of Hwy. 70.
