The Lafayette senior Fab Four saved their best for last.

The Lafayette Lancers and the Mary's Institute County Day School Rams believe they have a chance to win the state championship this weekend.

Chesterfield native Scott Jostes can add National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) champion and American record holder to his extensive list of swimming accomplishments.

Lafayette graduate Sean Mathews was one of 41 Northwestern student-athletes who earned Academic All-Big 10 honors.

Junior Paul Reinisch, a Lafayette graduate, and freshman James Larkins, a Parkway Central graduate, were members of the Miners' third-place squad at the Division II Championships.

The Rockwood Swim Club (RSCA) continues to add to its impressive resume of championships and record times. The club also has a coach who was inducted into the Ozark Swimming Hall of Fame.

Coach Kristen Kaiser is still reveling in her Mary Institute and Saint Louis Country Day School (MIDCS) girls finishing fourth in the recent state meet. Only two teams (third in 2000 and second in 1995) have done better.

While Kaiser said she hoped her team would do well at the meet, the girls exceeded her expectations.

Wanting to wash away her second-place finishes last year, Eureka High School senior Amber Green reached her goal of winning two state championships and setting two state records in the process.
