Northbound I-270 now has an extra lane between I-44 and Manchester Road. Work to widen southbound I-270 begins March 18.
The Missouri Department of Transportation will begin lane closures tonight on southbound I-270 between Manchester Road to I-44 to complete the major widening project. The lane closures for daily work will occur during non-peak hours and run from Manchester Road to I-44.
Crews will set the barrier wall starting tonight, weather permitting. The barrier will begin at Dougherty Ferry Road and continue to north of I-44. Four through lanes will remain open to traffic. The barrier will be in place for approximately seven months.
“There will be 15 minute delays twice a day when blasting on weekdays begins April 1. The blasting will be similar to last summer, and last approximately two months,” said Michelle Voegele, MoDOT Area Engineer for Southwest St. Louis County.
Construction on southbound I-270 is expected to be complete by late December.
