American Board seeks local career-changers to bring passion to classrooms

The American Board is an education nonprofit organization that is dedicated to building communities by recruiting teachers locally. As an organization, The American Board strives to fill Missouri classrooms with the role models that students need to be successful by certifying qualified individuals through their online teacher certification program.
In Missouri alone, there are reported teacher shortages in English, Math, and Science, two of the many subjects in which The American Board is able to administer certification. With an average age of 39, American Board candidates are highly invested in their communities, which may account for the 85-percent retention rate of American Board teachers throughout their first three years, compared to 67 percent nationwide. Additionally, 95 percent of surveyed principals rated American Board teachers to be as effective or more effective than their peers.
The organization is hosting a series of events in the Greater St. Louis area for local career changers who are considering the teaching profession. Those who possess Bachelor’s degree in their respective fields and a desire to become a teacher are encouraged to come find out how they can bring their passion and dedication to the classrooms that need them most.
