A local citizen group consisting of concerned residents in the Ellisville community has initiated a grassroots movement in support of Mayor Adam Paul.

The movement is in response to the Ellisville City Council’s vote to suspend Mayor Paul and its scheduling of an impeachment hearing for March 27.

According to resident Elizabeth Schmidt, “We feel that the current City Council has acted to disenfranchise the voters. We feel the political process has been abused by those in power and that impeaching Mayor Paul is fundamentally wrong.”

The group has developed a website (www.supportmayorpaul.com) to provide information about the suspension and encourages Ellisville residents to get involved by contacting their councilman.

In addition, the group has made available an online survey for Ellisville residents to voice their opinion concerning key issues in the community.  The online survey can be found at www.surveymonkey.com/s/ellisvillecitizensurvey .

“Democracy and government only work when the voice of the people is heard and acted upon,” stated Schmidt.  “Within the past few weeks, there have been tremendous assumptions made in regard to what the people of Ellisville want.  The survey will provide a clearer understanding of the wishes of Ellisville citizens. We encourage all residents to take a few minutes to participate in the survey.”

The ‘.’ at the end of the survey link needs to be removed. It is causing an error when going to the survey link.

Hooray for this group. They have good points of concern. A main reason for TIF dollars is to keep jobs locally, but the Walmart in Manchester has implemented self checkout lanes, thus reducing the quantity of cashiers on shift. (IMHO, beggars come with any size pocketbooks and any misleading info to get what they want.)
