Local student athletes sign letters of intent for college sports

Local high school athletes took advantage of the winter signing period for football, soccer, track and field, cross country, lacrosse, field hockey, rowing and water polo that began Feb. 6, for high school seniors. The athletes signed binding national letters of intent with NCAA Division I and II universities. The early signing period for athletes in other sports was in November and it includes basketball, swimming, volleyball, baseball, wrestling, golf and gymnastics.
Here is a look at local schools in alphabetical order and their athletes who will sign:
CBC
Soccer: Dokaj Xhovani with Quincy University, Joe Corbett with University of Missouri-St. Louis, Austin Ledbetter with Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, Nate Griffin with Quincy University, Conner Sendobry with University of Wisconsin-Green Bay
Football: Jonathan Parker with University of Iowa, Aarion Penton with University of Missouri, T.J. Williams with Miami of Ohio, Bert Birdsall with Miami University, Jonathan Owens with Missouri Western State University
Lacrosse: Zach Turnure with Ohio State University, Christian Schveninger with Florida Southern College, Jack Dependah with Aurora University, Benjamin Lis with College of Mount St. Joseph

The athletes will sign in a ceremony at 9:45 a.m. in the Gundaker Theater.

The athletes will sign in a ceremony after school between 2:30 and 3 p.m. in the school’s theater.
