Wickenheiser Cup will have new champion this year as playoffs set to begin

There will be a new Wickenheiser Cup champion  in the Midstates Club Hockey Association playoffs this as the preliminary round gets under way.

Whitfield is the defending champion but the Warriors are competing in the Founders Cup this season.

A round-robin format is being used this year.

Here is how it breaks down with the seed of the team:
Division A
1. Eureka. 8. Duchesne. 9. Webster Groves. 16. Ladue

Division B
2. Fort Zumwalt West. 7. MICDS. 10. Fort Zumwalt East. 15. Northwest.

Division C
3. Marquette. 6. Lutheran South. 11. Francis Howell. 14. Fox.

Division D
4. Francis Howell Central. 5. Francis Howell North. 12. Wentzville Holt. 13. Fort Zumwalt North.

Teams will play all other teams within their division once in round robin play. The two top teams in each division will move onto the quarterfinals. Teams will be seeded in the quarterfinals per their original seed.  The quarterfinals will proceed into a standard bracket format.

Here is the schedule for Division A:
Friday (Feb. 1): Webster vs. Ladue at 8:45 p.m. at Webster Groves;  Eureka vs. Duschesne at 9:15 p.m. at Fenton.
Saturday (Feb. 2):  Duschesne  vs. Ladue at 7:45 p.m. at  Brentwood; Eureka vs. Webster at 8:45 p.m. at Webster Groves.
Tuesday (Feb. 5): Duchesne vs. Webster at 9 p.m. at  Queeny Park and Eureka vs. Ladue 9:30 p.m. at Fenton.

Here is the schedule for Division B:
Friday (Feb. 1):  Fort Zumwalt West  vs. Fort Zumwalt East at 9 p.m. at Lindenwood;  MICDS vs. Northwest at  9:45 p.m. at Affton.
Saturday (Feb. 2): Fort Zumwalt East vs. Northwest at 7:30 p.m at Fenton; Fort Zumwalt West vs. MICDS at 9:30 p.m. at Brentwood.
Monday (Feb. 4):  Fort Zumwalt West vs. Northwest at 9:30 p.m. at Hardee’s Ice Plex.
Tuesday (Feb. 5):  MICDS vs. Fort Zumwalt East at 8:45 p.m. at Webster Groves.

Here is the schedule for Division C:
Thursday (Jan. 31): Marquette vs. Lutheran South at 9:30 p.m. at Hardee’s Ice Plex.
Friday (Feb. 1): Lutheran South vs. Fox  at 8:40 p.m. at FSI Shark Tank;  Marquette vs. Francis Howell at 9 p.m. at  Hardee’s Ice Plex.
Saturday (Feb. 2): Francis Howell vs. Fox at 5:15 p.m. at  Queeny;
Monday (Feb. 4): Lutheran South vs. Francis Howell at 9 at FSI Shark Tank.
Tuesday (Feb. 5): Marquette vs. Fox at 7 p.m. at Webster Groves.
