The Ballwin Police Department congratulated the city’s public and parochial schools for their participation in the “Pennies Make Sense” campaign. Students and staff from seven Ballwin schools raised a total of $1,008 during the month of October. The money was donated to the St. Louis Area Foodbank to aid in providing families with nutritious meals for the holidays.

The Ballwin Police have sponsored the fundraiser since 1994 and have collected more than $19,000 for families in need; enough for 76,000 meals. River City Casino also assisted this year, by counting the hundreds of pounds of coins collected.

This year’s check presentation took place at Claymont Elementary School, which raised the most money out of all the schools during the drive.
