St. Charles man charged in connection with death of infant

The St. Charles Police have obtained arrest warrants charging Jordan L. Prince, 24, of St. Charles with second-degree murder and endangering the welfare of a child in connection with the death of a 4-month-old infant.
Police said that on Monday, Dec. 3, they responded with EMS to the 3600 block of Fremont in St. Charles for a reported medical emergency involving an infant who was not breathing. Upon arrival responding officers attempted resuscitation efforts and the infant was then conveyed via ambulance to St. Josephs Hospital. Later the infant was transferred via air ambulance to Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital.
On Tuesday, Dec. 4 the infant died. Initial autopsy results indicated that the death was a homicide. On Wednesday, Dec. 5 investigators met with the infant’s mother and her boyfriend, Prince. On Thursday, Dec. 6, based on information obtained during the interviews the previous day, investigators obtained warrants for the arrest of Prince.
Prince was arrested Thursday, Dec. 6, and is currently being held at the St. Charles City Police Department pending transfer to the St. Charles County jail, bond has been set at $150,000.
Police said Prince and the victim’s mother are not married and Prince is not the father of the child, but has been in a relationship with the victim’s mother for the past five months.
The investigation is ongoing and additional charges may be filed, police said.
