Yadier Molina and other members of the 2012 St. Louis Cardinals playoff team will be honored during the 54th Annual Baseball Writers Dinner on Jan. 20 in St. Louis.
Molina will be named the St. Louis Man of the Year at the dinner, which is at the Millennium Hotel Ballroom downtown.
The event also will honor numerous members of the 2012 club — which fell one win short of reaching the World Series in October — including Jon Jay, Allen Craig, Kyle Lohse, Jason Motte, Mitchell Boggs, Matt Holliday, Carlos Beltran, Lance Lynn, David Freese, and manager Mike Matheny.
Molina won his fifth consecutive Gold Glove while leading the Cardinals in hitting. He finished fourth in the balloting for the National League MVP this season.
In addition, outstanding women’s amateur golfer Ellen Port will be honored. Port won the USGA women’s senior championship earlier this year.
Tickets for the event are $125 each, or $150 if the buyers also wants a pass for the Winter Warm-Up the same weekend. Tables of 10 are available. Tickets can be purchased by sending a check or money order to St. Louis BBWAA, P.O. Box 605, St. Louis, MO 63188.
