Metro West Fire Protection District responded to a 9-1-1 call of a house on fire in the 18000 block of Bucks Creek Road early Friday morning. The call came in at approximately 2:25 a.m.
When Metro West arrived on the scene flames were already shooting out of the two-story home. According to Chief Vincent Loyal, the residents living in the home escaped without injury thanks to working smoke detectors and the quick thinking of the neighbor who made the 9-1-1 call.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Five fire districts including Monarch Fire Protection District and West County EMS and Fire Protection District aided Metro West is fighting the fire.
As we near the end of daylight savings time fire districts across the metro area will be reminding residents to change the batteries in smoke detectors and to replace non-functioning or install new detectors. Daylight savings time ends on Nov. 4.
