More than 1,700 runners/walkers turned out for the 11th Annual Chesterfield Chamber of Commerce Gumbo Flats Pumpkin 5k and 10k Run/Walk despite unseasonably cool temperatures.
The event, held at the Chesterfield Towne Center in Chesterfield Valley at the corner of Long Road and Edison Avenue, got underway at 8 a.m. for the 5k/10k races and 9 a.m. for the Children’s Fun Run.
In addition to cheering for participants, volunteers also lavished food on runners, much of which was donated by area businesses.
Costumes were encouraged, for kids and adults alike. Awards were given to the first, second and third place male and female overall winners and finishers in various age categories. All Children’s Fun Run Participants will receive a completion award. A portion of this year’s proceeds will benefit a local charity.
West Newsmagazine is a proud Bronze Sponsor of the event.
