The Greater St. Louis Area Fire Chiefs Association, Metropolitan Fire Marshals Association of St. Louis County and the Greater St. Louis Region Fire and EMS Officers Association were among those honoring area firefighter-paramedics during a recent luncheon held at the Kirkwood Community Center.
The awards were given for bravery while coming to the aid of persons trapped in fires or involved in other emergency situations, and for exceptional service. Among those honored were personnel from the Metro West, Monarch, West County and Valley Park Fire Protection Districts in the West County area.
An early-morning fire at an apartment complex in Chesterfield last July resulted in honors for firefighter-paramedics from three districts called to the scene under their mutual aid agreements.
