O’Fallon is hosting an Economic Development Strategic Plan Kickoff Meeting at 6:30 p.m. on Tues., Oct.30, in the City Council Chambers at City Hall.
The purpose of this project is to develop an Economic Development Strategic Plan for the city which will lay out the steps and action items necessary to both encourage and accommodate investment by the public and private sectors and thereby enhance the overall quality of life. The plan will accomplish this through the strengthening of four major tenants: business retention, business recruitment, community marketing and regulatory climate.
“The planning process requires considerable public input, and that input will be solicited through a number of public meeting opportunities,” said Economic Development Director Mike Hurlbert. “It is especially vital that public input be solicited in this phase of the process, and all interested persons are invited to attend and participate.”
As information is developed during the gathering and analysis phase of the planning process, it will be used to identify resources, priorities, and specify steps needed for implementation. When it is complete, the Economic Development Strategic Plan will serve as the guide for future economic development efforts for the city of O’Fallon. The planning process is anticipated to take six to nine months to complete.
