Seven visual arts students from Parkway South Middle participated in a community service project at the Schnucks grocery store located at 1393 Big Bend in Twin Oaks.
The students were asked to paint the windows at Schnucks, recognizing Halloween and Breast Cancer Awareness. Under the direction of visual arts teacher Karen Silverman, the students created their own windows design to be displayed through the month of October. For 15 years, students of Silverman have had the unique service opportunity at some point during the school year.
“Sometimes it is in the fall, like this year, and other times, we have painted later in the year for a springtime theme. On occasion, my students are asked to paint the windows twice in one year,” Silverman said.
