The St. Peters Police Department is investigating a fatal car accident, which occurred at about 6:15 a.m., Oct. 1, on Salt River Road just west of Silvers Road. Police say multiple vehicles were involved in the accident.

The initial investigation at the scene revealed a white 2004 Monte Carlom driven by Jeffrey Conway, 27,  of Florissant, was travelling westbound on Salt River Road and three other vehicles were travelling eastbound Salt Rivers Road(a Chevy Trailblazer, GMC Sonoma, and a Kia Soul).

Police believe the driver of the Monte Carlo crossed the center line for an unknown reason, and clipped a Chevy Trailblazer travelling eastbound on Salt River Road.  The female driver of that vehicle was transported to the hospital by a family member with minor injuries.

The Monte Carlo then struck the second vehicle, GMC Sonoma, causing that vehicle to rollover.  The male driver of the Sonoma was transported by ambulance to St. Joseph’s Hospital and is being released with minor injuries.

The Monte Carlo then struck the third vehicle travelling eastbound on Salt Rivers Road and the female driver was airlifted to Mercy Hospital.  At this time, her injuries are unknown.

Police said Conway was transported by ambulance to Barnes St. Peters where he was pronounced dead.

Traffic Accident Reconstruction officers are continuing their investigation.
