Under the heading of “Where Has The Time Gone?” comes notification from the city of O’Fallon that beginning Monday, Oct. 15, Fort Zumwalt Park will be closed to vehicles so crews can safely install holiday lights and scenes for O’Fallon’s annual Celebration of Lights display.
The park will remain open to pedestrians, who are welcome to use the asphalt walking and jogging path through the park during daylight hours.
The park, located on Jessup Drive (off Veterans Memorial Parkway), will reopen to regular traffic on Jan. 31, 2013.
The public is invited to drive through the Celebration of Lights display, which opens at 6 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 23 (the day after Thanksgiving), and continues nightly through Dec. 30, except for Sunday, Dec. 25, when it will be closed for Christmas.
The event is sponsored by the city of O’Fallon with help from local businesses, and raises funds for participating not-for-profit organizations.
