A man police believe to be responsible for the May 2012 robbery of Check N Go, in the 4100 block of Mexico Road, and a host of other robberies in the area, has been arrested and charged.

Darrell I. Bolden, 37, of Hillsdale,Mo., was arrested by St. Louis County Police Department on Sept. 12, after it received a DNA match from evidence left at another robbery scene. Once Bolden was taken into custody, he admitted to committing the robbery in St. Peters on May 5, 2012.  Police said Bolden also admitted to committing robberies in various municipalities in St. Louis County. He told detectives he had a gambling problem, which is why he committed the multiple robberies. Police say it is believed he is responsible for as many as seven robberies in the St. Louis County area .

Bolden was released from federal prison in February 2012. He had been serving a sentence for bank robbery in Illinois he committed in 1999.

St. Charles County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office charged Bolden with two counts of robbery in the first degree and two counts of armed criminal action, with a cash only bond of $100,000 for the Check N Go robbery.

Bolden is currently being held at St. Louis County Jail for first degree robbery, first degree assault,  and two counts of armed criminal action, with a cash only bond of $150,000 through St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.
