West County Center is celebrating its 10th anniversary and the community is invited to the party.

“The ten year anniversary is an important milestone for West County Center, and we invite everyone to celebrate with us,” said Sean Phillips, regional marketing director for CBL Malls, owner and manager of the shopping center. “From the day we opened in 2002, the St. Louis community has embraced all that we offer, and we want to take this opportunity to show our appreciation.”

Four days of celebration

The center officially kicks off a four day celebration, Thursday, Sept. 20 through Sunday, Sept. 23, with a commemorative ceremony at 9 a.m. on Sept. 20 in Restaurant Village. The first 100 guests receive a commemorative gift including a $10 dining gift card. The public is invited as Des Peres Mayor Rick Lahr, mall officials and dignitaries mark the 10 year anniversary with a proclamation and a check presentation to Rebuilding Together-St. Louis.*  The event will conclude with a dove release and special daytime fireworks.

Throughout the grand opening celebration, Thursday, Sept. 20 through Sunday, Sept.23, shoppers who spend $100 or more at two center retailers will get a free pair of movie tickets to Wehrenberg Des Peres Theatres. Offer good while supplies last. Redeem receipts at Customer Service on the lower level near Nordstrom.

Family Activities
Fun abounds on the lower level near Macy’s.  Thursday, Sept. 20, from 9:30-11:30 a.m. children 12 and under can be part of the center’s future by making a handprint tile which will be permanently installed in the Family Lounge. For just a $5 donation to Rebuilding Together – St. Louis, kids can make their mark with a fun activity.*

Thursday, Sept. 20, continues with special appearances by some of children’s favorite costumed characters. Parents are welcome to bring cameras and capture the experience when Dora the Explorer and Diego visit with fans from 9am to noon and again from 3-6 p.m.

Friday, Sept. 21  at 10 a.m., Build-A-Bear Workshop will celebrate the Grand Opening of their new West County Center Store. Join Bearamy for tons of fun at the Build-A-Bear store! Dora and Diego continue the fun with an appearances on the lower level near Macy’s from 11 a.m.–2 p.m. and 3–6 p.m..

On Saturday, Sept. 22, Dora and Diego and The Smurfs will visit with friends from 11 a.m.- 2 p.m. and 3-6 p.m. in the lower level, Macy’s Court. Macy’s Kids department will host Hello Kitty! from 1-3 p.m. and Bearamy, the mascot from Build-A-Bear Workshop,
will be inside the store from 3-5 p.m.

The celebration concludes on Sunday, Sept. 23 with special appearances by Dora and Diego and The Smurfs from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. and 3-6 p.m. in Macy’s Court on the lower level.

Live Music
On Thursday and Friday, Sept. 20 and 21 , from 5-8 p.m., enjoy live music on the patios of Restaurant Village. Thursday is Girls Night Out with drink and appetizer specials courtesy of Bravo! Cucina, J. Gilbert’s, McCormick & Schmick’s and Red Mango. The live Motown sounds of Arvell & Company will keep the party pumping. Harvest a Cure
Saturday, Sept. 22 from noon-5 p.m., Purchase a wristband to benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and enjoy food and wine sampling, plus live music in a tent across from Restaurant Village. Participating restaurants include: j.gilberts, Bravo! Cucina Italiana, California Pizza Kitchen and  McCormick & Schmick’s.
