River City took a 2-1 lead in the top of the seventh inning on a Matt Serna two-out single, but two errors in the bottom of the inning led to five runs for the Traverse City Beach Bums who took the series with a 6-2 on Sunday, Aug. 19.
With the game scoreless entering the bottom of the fourth, Rascal starter Justin Sarratt (1-3) made his first mistake that ended up with a ball hit over the wall in left-center off the bat of Jeff Flagg for a 1-0 Traverse City lead. With the score still 1-0 entering the seventh; Charlie Lisk hit his second double of the game that was followed by a Chris Andreas walk to put runners at first and second with one out. Curran Redal followed with a slow roller up the first base line that was fielded by Beach Bum’s first baseman Chase Burch who met Redal at the bag and a collision ensued, sending Redal to the emergency room with a concussion and separated shoulder. The play would move the runners up a base before Serna looped a two-run single to center for a 2-1 Rascal lead.
Traverse City wasted no time getting back on top, turning a dropped fly ball by Jason Patton into the game-tying run before Sarratt was chased from the game. Kyle Eveland tripled in two more off Nick Kennedy with another pair of runs scoring on a Lisk error at third to make the score 6-2.
Following a league-wide off-day Monday, the Rascals are back home as they host the Southern Illinois Miners for the first and only time in 2012 Tuesday night with first pitch set for 7:05 p.m.
