Discovery Ridge Elementary third-grade teacher Jessica Karll has been chosen to serve as the honorary grand marshal of the Wabash Days Community Club Parade.

Karll was selected as the Wentzville School District “Teacher of the Year” for the 2011-12 school year. She is in her fifth year with the Wentzville School District and has taught at Discovery Ridge since it opened in 2010. Karll serves on the district communication arts committee and her class has been selected as a model classroom for district professional development. She serves as the building Missouri Assessment Program (MAP) chair, and in 2011 her students and third-grade team had MAP scores that were among the highest in St. Charles, St. Louis, and surrounding counties.

Not only is she recognized by her professional peers, but Karll is also respected by her students.

Wabash Days, now in its ninth year, is a celebration of Wentzville’s history and railroad heritage. This year’s parade is themed “Get on Board” and starts at noon, Sat. Aug. 25, at Budget Towing on Luetkenhaus Boulevard and will move west on Pearce Boulevard, left on Linn, right on W. Main, and end at the Wentzville Community Club.
