Missouri’s No Call Law has been expanded to cover personal cellphones in addition to residential land lines. Missourians may now register their cellphone numbers on the Attorney General’s website at www.ago.mo.gov or by phone at 1-866-buzzoff (1-866-289-9633).
After being announced on Thursday, June 14, the AG followed up 24 hours later, reporting 61,219 cellphones users had registered for the no call list.
“The response to adding cell phones to the no call registry has been tremendous,” Attorney General Chris Koster said. “We want people to tell their family members, friends and coworkers that signing up is quick and easy, either on our Web site or by calling an automated number.”
Koster said the expanded law covers only cell phones that are primarily used for personal and family use. Cell phones that are used primarily for business are not covered.
The no-call registry is updated quarterly, so everyone who adds their mobile numbers to the list by July 31 will be covered Oct. 1. Everyone signing up after July 31 and before Nov. 1 will be covered beginning January 1.
More than 1.8 million Missouri households are currently on the no call registry for residential phones.
