Family Culture Day will be held from noon until 4 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 9, at the Foundry Art Centre. The purpose of Culture Days is to showcase Latino contributions to the arts. The free event will feature live music performed by Son de America and cultural dances of Columbia and Venezuela performed by Grupo Atlantico and cultural dance of Mexico performed by Quetzal as well as ethnic food by El Faro and cultural displays and art activities for children.
Visitors can meet the artist at 12:30 p.m. and interact with featured artist Eugenia Ortiz from Kansas City as she interprets her exhibit, “Awakenings.”
PNC Arts Alive is a two-year, $1 million initiative from the PNC Foundation that supports visual and performing arts groups with the goal of increasing arts access and engagement in new and innovative ways.
This grant award was given to only 16 arts organizations in the Greater St. Louis area that were selected for bold thinking around increasing arts access and engagement, and the Foundry Art Centre was one.
“The PNC Foundation has a long history of providing grants to organizations that strengthen and enrich the lives of our communities,” said PNC Regional President for Greater St. Louis Rick Sems. “We understand that a rich arts community is a significant driver of our economic success, providing employment, boosting tourism and making the region attractive for businesses, residents and visitors.”
